Privacy Notice

This notice explains how the practice collects, uses, shares and protects personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who we are
TODO — Registered entity (Pty) Ltd trading as Dr Prince Makaulule Inc. operates this website and the ENT practice of Dr Prince Makaulule. The Information Officer is Dr Prince Makaulule, contactable at reception@drmakaulule.co.za.
Information we collect
- Identity and contact details you provide through the enquiry form, by email or by telephone.
- Clinical information you choose to share when describing your symptoms or reason for consultation.
- Medical aid and billing details required to administer your account.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies.
Why we process it
- To respond to enquiries and arrange consultations.
- To provide healthcare services and maintain accurate clinical records.
- To submit claims to medical schemes and administer accounts.
- To comply with obligations imposed by the HPCSA, the National Health Act and tax legislation.
Legal basis and consent
Health information is special personal information under POPIA. We process it with your consent, or where processing is necessary for the provision of medical services and the establishment of your treatment record. You may withdraw consent for non-essential processing at any time, without affecting care already provided.
Sharing your information
Information is shared only where necessary: with treating colleagues, laboratories, radiology practices, hospitals, your medical scheme, and our accounting and IT service providers who are bound by confidentiality obligations. We do not sell personal information.
Retention
Clinical records are retained for the periods required by the HPCSA and the National Health Act — generally not less than six years from the date of the last entry, and longer for minors and certain conditions. Website enquiry records are retained only as long as needed to respond and to keep an audit trail.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures, including access control, encryption in transit and restricted record access. No transmission over the internet is entirely secure; please do not send urgent or highly sensitive clinical detail through the website form.
Your rights
- To ask what personal information we hold about you and to receive a copy.
- To ask that inaccurate or outdated information be corrected or deleted.
- To object to processing in certain circumstances.
- To lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
